Online retailer Amazon.com says it is hiring 100 more fulltime workers for its 1.1 million-square-foot Tracy fulfillment center to meet growing customer demand.
Amazon already employs more than 1,500 in San Joaquin County, making it one of the largest non-governmental employers in the county.
Employees in Tracy work alongside robots to fill customer orders.
“In addition to their ongoing community involvement, the company’s continued growth directly benefits the city and surrounding areas,” says Tracy Mayor Michael Maciel.
Full-time employees at Amazon get a benefits package that includes healthcare, 401(k) and company stock awards starting on day one. Amazon also offers regular full-time employees programs like Career Choice, where it will pre-pay up to 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon. Since the program’s launch, employees are pursuing degrees in game design and visual communications, nursing, IT programming and radiology, to name a few, the company says.
