Aramark Corp., the $14.8 billion global provider of food services, facilities management and uniform services, is working to establish a new commercial laundry in south Stockton, opening this summer.
Chris Collom, Aramark director of corporate communications, said this week in an email from corporate offices in Philadelphia, that he could make few details available as the project still is in development.
“We are working on plans to open a laundry processing facility this summer that will bring jobs to the area. The facility will be located near the Stockton Metropolitan Airport and will include the transfer of our Redding … laundry processing operation to Stockton,” he wrote.
“At this time, we have not begun the hiring process and it is premature to discuss the number and type of positions that will be available.”
According to an article in the Record Searchlight newspaper in Redding, about 40 jobs will be lost at Aramark’s Uniform Services operation in that city, but it will retain a number of administrative and distribution employees there.
The Feb. 19 news report said the company had leased a facility in Stockton that was currently being renovated.
Aramark, whose stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol ARMK, offers food, facilities and uniform services in 22 countries and has more than 270,000 employees. It serves hospitals, colleges, universities and public schools, stadiums and arenas, hotels and other businesses.
