 STOCKTON

 July 15, 2013 1:57pm

•  Adds more than 85 jobs

•  “Demonstrates that clean energy is the right way for our future, environment and economy”

Residential and commercial solar power company SolarCity (NASDAQ: SCTY) of Palo Alto, has opened a new operations center in Stockton, citing increasing business.

Its new 18,000 square foot Stockton location on Arch Road near Stockton Metropolitan Airport was officially opened Monday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Stockton, California Assemblywoman Susan Talamantes Eggman, D-Stockton, Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva, SolarCity employees, and local customers.

The Stockton location is currently staffed with more than 70 full-time, locally-hired employees who provide sales, consultations, and installation services to homeowners and businesses in the San Joaquin region as far south as Merced. SolarCity is currently seeking to hire for 16 additional full-time positions in Stockton.

"Clean energy has reliably generated tens of thousands of family-wage jobs in our economy,” says Mr. McNerney. "SolarCity's decision to expand its business services in Stockton and to hire locally demonstrates that clean energy is the right way for our future, environment and economy."
