The Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce announced the grant Wednesday. It is one of two grants totaling nearly $4 million to help Northern California build infrastructure to create and retain jobs.

Sanger plans to use the funding to support the installation of a water storage tank to ensure manufacturers have consistent water flow to their facilities. Sanger expects the investment to create about 115 new jobs and retain another 100 jobs.

The City of Hayward received $2.74 million toward the installation of a fiber optic network within an industrial zone.

“The U.S. Economic Development Administration plays an important role in facilitating development of the critical infrastructure that local communities need to support long-term job growth and economic competitiveness,” said Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker, in a statement. “The EDA grants announced today will support infrastructure projects that will boost business development and job growth in the Northern California region.”
