Lodi winery makes list of 101 best wineries in country

LODI — Bokisch Vineyards made the Daily Meal’s list of the 101 best wineries in America. The Lodi wine maker came in at No. 81 on the list and joined 65 California growers on the website’s annual survey.

The Daily Meal is a website that covers food and drink topics from around the country. The list was compiled from 50 experts in the field as well as wine bloggers, writers, chefs and restaurateurs. The survey considered factors such as the quality of individual wines, the overall place of each winery in the American wine scene and quality-to-price ratio.

The survey lauded Bokisch Vineyards for its Lodi Rules for Sustainable Wine growing program. The survey also gave the vineyard high marks for its “vivid interpretations of albariño, verdejo, verdelho, garnacha blanca, garnacha, tempranillo, monastrell (mourvèdre) and graciano (a comparatively minor but important red Rioja variety).”

Bokisch Vineyards has been in operation since 1995 and produced its first wine in 1999. The winery currently carries 10 Iberian varietal wines. It produces about 5,000 cases per year and has a tasting room at 18921 Atkins Road in Lodi.
